What are headers?
Headers, (as opposed to stock manifolds) are designed to promote "scavenging". This is the science of using the exhaust gas from one cylinder to help pull the exhaust from the next, and so on. When used in conjunction with a free flow intake system, they will definitely increase horsepower. An engine is basically a large air pump. Anything that makes the inflow and outflow of air easier, is using less of the developed power just moving air, meaning more power at the wheels.
